Happy Happy Birthday, Baby!

Kara Logan is officially one year old today! Where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday we were on our way to the hospital to "get" Jenna a little sister! We celebrated Kara's birthday last weekend with a small party here at the house. She hesitantly flirted with the idea of tearing into her very own cake; however, after about three minutes of teasing the audience with timid touches, she dug in with both hands. I have added some pics here but my friend Lydia has an even better picture on her blog. Not to mention the fact that she posted them the day of the party, a complete week ago; she puts me to shame! Kara had a fabulous time at her party, and remained a happy baby despite the fact that it ran two hours past nap time. Today we have celebrated her birthday by singing all day; Jenna has serenaded Kara over ten times. We sang happy birthday when we got up this morning, before snack, after nap, ect... In celebration of Kara's big day, here is a recap of her phenomenal first year developments:

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

  • She is still sporting the two lone toothies- bottom middle

  • She continues to grooowl at those she loves and random strangers- she is a true comedian; she cracks up each time this display elicits laughs.

  • She eats like a little oinker and normally only cries when food is removed from her sight.

  • She sleeps through the night (in her very own crib) EVERY NIGHT like a big girl- FYI: I'm convinced that the good Lord knew that I could only handle one child with major sleep issues and a reluctance to sleep anywhere other than ON me! Jenna continues to attest that Kara can handle the upstairs area of our house just fine without her each night.

  • She continues to put on her "face" several times a day, again the whole comedian thing!
  • She LOVES taking a bath; however, she hates getting her hair washed. I'm fairly sure that the neighbors are going to call DSS one evening because her screams during the hair washing ritual echo throughout our entire neighborhood! My two girls are two of a kind on this issue.
  • Speaking of hair... She will NOT leave the bow in her hair, EVER!

  • She is one tough cookie. I have yet to see her cry after bumping her head, falling on her bottom, or being knocked down; she can hang with the "big kids."

  • She ADORES her big sister, and her big sister ADORES her- especially when she thinks no one is looking! :-) No one can make Kara laugh the way that Jenna can, and there is no one that Kara enjoys amusing more than Jenna!

  • She love all foods orange and despises most anything green. Lately she is of the mind that she should be eating whatever, and I do mean whatever, any and everyone around her is munching on. She flipped out in the middle of our favorite restaurant when she realized there was no taco for her. Why, you ask, did we not give in and give her a nibble... ONLY two tiny teeth!

  • She has taken SEVEN steps all by herself. She is still very reluctant to just let go and go for it; nonetheless, she has proven that she can do it. Balance is sometimes an issue!

  • She LOVES her pap pap; we usually keep at least four with us at all times, just in case!

  • She has taught her mommy and daddy that there is an endless amount of love for your babies, and God gives the ability to always love equally and individually! Happy Birthday to our sweet baby angel!
